Last night in Venice Beach, we co-hosted the Official ComfyUI LA Meetup with Playbook 3D, where we brought together creative technologists, VFX Artists, and the curious to explore the cutting edge of AI tooling. Eight lightning presentations from advanced users kept a packed house fully engaged. The most common reaction of the night? “I thought there’d be more people here… this is the future.”

TIFF and NYC here we come in September!

Todd is travelling to Toronto for our second year at TIFF, producing the AI on the Lot popups, and for the first time, we are hosting a private event in NYC at the Microsoft Garage. If you are in Toronto September 6-8th or NYC on the 9th, reply back!

Call for Volunteer AI Artists – Join the ETC Gen Jam
August 9 and 10 | Virtual

The USC Entertainment Technology Center (ETC) is looking for volunteer AI artists experienced with ComfyUI (image and video generation) to participate in a weekend Gen Jam focused on creating fully generative shots for a hybrid live-action film.

Why volunteer:

• Collaborate with professional AI artists and entertainment technologists

• Gain early access to advanced tools including MoonValley's Marey model

• Cloud compute provided

• Remote and flexible schedule. Artists can join for one or both days from 9 AM to 6 PM PST with a lunch break

• Great networking, potential references, and future opportunities

About ETC
The Entertainment Technology Center at USC is a research hub that explores how emerging technology is transforming media creation and storytelling. Supported by major Hollywood studios and tech companies, ETC's mission is to help shape the future of entertainment.

About the Project: “Pathways”

"Pathways" is an experimental hybrid live-action short film developed at the ETC. The project integrates generative AI tools into its production workflow. The Gen Jam will focus on creating generative shots in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Upcoming FBRC Paid Projects

We’re looking for key talent for an upcoming paid project with a major channel. The project would run for about 6 weeks during August - September.

• An editor/motion graphics creator with experience in AI animation who is interested in exploring how the process of creating "explainer"-style videos can be accelerated with AI.

• An all-in-one AI creator (or a lean team) that is exploring AI animation with an emphasis on fidelity, character consistency, and narrative.

If you think either of these roles describes you, reach out with your information, including a reel or examples of relevant previous work. Also, share some information about the technical challenges in AI that you have most recently been exploring. If your experience is aligned with the needs of the project, we will reach out for a longer conversation.

AI Creator Report

We’re producing a report that highlights how AI is reshaping media and entertainment. By sharing your process, you’ll have the chance to showcase your work to a global audience of industry leaders, decision-makers, and creative innovators. While our first report focused on AI Studios, FBRC.ai is working on our second report, centered around the ways that the role of AI creators is evolving. We're inviting you to share where you're positioned within the AI space to benchmark the evolving talent needs in the space.
